The 2004 United Land Use Conference (ULUC), sponsored by the United
Four Wheel Drive Associations (UFWDA), will be held at the Harrisburg
Holiday Inn Hotel and Conference Center in Hershey, PA. on July 7.
The hotel is located at the intersection of I-83 and the Pennsylvania
Turnpike.
The featured conference presentation will be from the U.S. Forest
Service National OHV Policy Team. Representatives from the OHV
Policy Team will provide a briefing on the new proposed rules that
will apply to National Forest System lands to address management
issues related to motor vehicle use.
The proposed rule change will integrate motor vehicle use with
regulations for the Forest transportation system and provide a
consistent national framework for designation of motor vehicles in
the National Forest system. Another major element will require
Forests to designate roads, trails, and areas available for motor
vehicle use. This briefing will be one of many conducted by the
policy team to inform the recreation public of pending rule changes.
The tentative conference agenda is:
8:00 - Introductions
8:30 - Roundtable: What concerns you about access to public lands?
9:30 - Lobbying - Presentation will cover "How to Lobby Your Elected
Representative" and include letter writing and public speaking tips.
11-12:00 Lunch
12-3:00 US Forest Service - National OHV Policy briefing; including
question and answer session
3-4:00 - Roundtable: What concerns you about access to public lands?
