  • BLM response to MDR accident

As a result of their findings, this past weekend we (4 Aces MC) had to keep our enduro course a mile away from the accident site; and we (OHV racing) will no longer be able to refer to the area as THE ROCKPILE and will not be able to stage races in the area. You cannot believe the BLM presence......

Well, There went 25 minutes I'll never get back. I have to admit, after reading the reports and comments, the BLM at least seems to be taking some responsibilty for not doing it's job, but there are so many stipulations in the report that can quickly turn into a fiasco for the off road community. If the BLM feels it doesn't have enough manpower to adequately monitor an event it can be denied. I'm just wondering what can happen if, after an event has been approved and the BLM figures out it doesn't have enough presence to cover it, will they shut it down? They even admit the LEOs take vacation during some peak event times. Are they [BLM] going to limit the LEOs and other officers to taking vacations at certain times? They already admit to turn over issues with the LEOs so what the F? And now, looks like BLM is going to demand the promoters cover expenses for the BLM personell. Event promoters have to be freaking out about some of this. How much is the public going to pay to see an event? Bottom line, the government is getting more deeply involved in our personal activites. What happened to personal responsibility? I aplaud the BLM for stepping up and admitting they did not do thier job properly, but I feel that may have been a means to an end. The end of off road events in the CDD. I guess time will tell.
Thanks ( I think) for the info Rich.
