Hello everyone
Tuesday night Dec 16th there is a Inyo county Board of Supervisors meeting. On the
agenda is Feinstien Wilderness proposal from California wilderness coalition.
If you live close proximity, We need bodies to show at this thing and not let
CWC take over!

The meeting location is in Lone pine CA
I know its a long haul for most of you, I am going to try to get up there,
but not sure what the weather is is going to toss at us.(Snow line nearly
down to my place in Mojave this morning)
We need to get some comment input from everyone and ask the board to take one of the following positions....
A) Oppose the designation of additional wilderness in Inyo county, Continue present management as specified under the West Mojave Plan. What is the evidence that additional protection for these areas is required? Unfortunately, in the past we have not been successful in opposing these wilderness protection bills, but we need to insist that any new wilderness areas take into account the needs of multiple use recreation.
B) Allow us to Cherry stem the trails into the wilderness we want to keep. This is one approach that has been used in the past. Unfortunately it makes management of an area more difficult than continuing the present management plan. In some areas this might be an acceptable compromise, such as in a Roadless area where existing trails can be maintained but new trails cannot be constructed. In other areas this has a detrimental effect because it concentrates use on a very limited number of routes.
We have already met with Senator Feinstein's staff and they said they would fully entertain
options for cherry stemming existing routes of travel within proposed wilderness areas or disqualifying areas identified as potential wilderness by CWC if we can prove them not suitable for wilderness designation. It is now up to us to review all available routes in the proposed areas and to be familiar with any resource issues that will apply.
I did a ride in the Slate range yesterday with the Lost Coyote group
and the riding there is on the designated routes is spetacular! The Slates are on the chopping block,
