There was a full house at Lucerne Valley Elementary School in Lucerne Valley, CA. Attendees included, off road clubs, an attorney Rep. for District 37, local residents, and local business owners including (Slash X) and others that were opposed to the West Fry Mtn. Wind Energy Project.
There was a presentation from F.P.L. (Florida Power & Light) the Private Company submitting their $140,000,000 wind project proposal to the B.L.M. for consideration.
Immeasurable energy from the audience filled the room. An eager and prepared public comment period followed FPL's presentation. There were varying concerns, theories, and opinions expressed supporting the opposition to the wind project. Marked applause followed each speaker's comments.
All public comments addressed were recorded by a court clerk and will be permanent, public record and included in the E.I.S. report.
After the public comment period there were still some folks with questions in reference to the relevance of the Ord Mountains relation to the Fry Mountain project, this was acknowledged but largely unaddressed for lack of B.L.M. & F.P.L. answers.
I had the pleasure of meeting the Executive Director of the Patnership for Johnson Valley Mark R. Howlett,
the Chairman Harry A. Baker and his wife Helen Baker. All of whom I would like to keep an open dialogue with.
For you folks that are closer to Barstow there is another meeting tonight:
July 1, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at City of Barstow Council Chambers, 220 East Mountain View, Barstow, CA
Comments must be submitted in writing or via email by July 11 to: Bureau of Land Management, Barstow Field Office, 2601 Barstow Road, Barstow, CA 92311, cabaeis@ca.blm.gov
