Any socal trails that allow target shooting?

I've been on a few trails where I've seen bullet casings and shells, but I'm wondering if there are any trails that legally allow target shooting.

Shooting in Calico is generally accepted. There is a billboard a little ways in on Doran Canyon. It shows where the popular shooting areas are in the canyons. Since most of that area is a canyon of some sort, it's an ideal location. Very contained.

There are trail maps in Doran and one a little ways in on Mule Canyon.

Please ONLY shoot in designated areas and clean up after yourself. The Calico cleanup was only a few short weeks ago where a lot of MJR members spent the greater part of 2 hours picking up glass shards from shooters (not in a shooting area). Last weekend at IDTT we picked up a ton of shells from the Bismarck mine area because of other people too lazy to pick up after themselves.

As in known about and not restricted. I don't think there are any actual designated shooting areas, just popular shooting areas. That billboard is more of a warning for parents to keep kids away from those areas but it gives you a good guideline on the better spots. I'm surprised that some of the popular shooting areas are at the entrances to the canyon. When I was really into that many years ago, one of my favorite shooting areas was actually where MJR likes to camp. It's a long, straight corridor on the side of the trail with a steep cliff face to take the lead. I was shooting rifles, so I liked that distance.

Target shooting is allowed on public lands. The BLM California policy is to allow the use of firearms on public lands. You must clean up and remove any and all debris you create when you leave. It is illegal to shoot at trees, signs, out-buildings, or other objects that are there for public enjoyment.

Anyone who goes out shooting please clean up after yourselves and be extra careful so that we can continue to legally shoot on our public lands.

They actually called it rock-hounding! Haha.

We should have some sort of a firearm-friendly trail run sometime.

Don't know if it's worth a look, but on Saturday, from Pilot Rock rd. heading East making our way towards Dishpan Springs, right at the 173 and Willow Creek Jeep trail is a shooting range.

There is an area I go to all the time between Lucerne and Barstow. Great area to shoot, about 1 mi. off the 247.

Lytle creek also has a shooting area all the way up the road on the right side where pavement ends.If you continue on the dirt road you'll find some nice mild wheeling, but no shooting in that area. Tony

I've been a couple times to a place close to there. If you head South East from the 247 on the 18, go about 9 miles and it's on the North side of the highway across from the Mitsubishi Cement plant at the bottom of the Mountains. It'll be a dirt road, take it a quarter mile or so back and you'll see where everyone shoots. And according to the Sheriff's, it's perfectly legal.

There are several shooting spots off 3N14 between the campground areas (Big Pine?). They are marked. I do not know the trail status at this time, so check ahead.

HAS a shooting area or IS a shooting area? I grew up in Fontana, and that's a shooting area... I thought Lytle creek was too.

I went up with a group as range master at LC and some of the people up there scared the hell out of me. I would love to hit a trail area with you guys and get some shooting time in.
