  • Went on vacation this past week (first week of July)...

...and had a GREAT Time!!! I'll post up some pics soon (hopefully Tuesday or Wednesday of this week, and just for the heck of it), but here's a close-up of one of the things I saw on the trip...any guesses as to where this is?!

Well, it looks like a lava dome, so it must be a volcano, just which one. I know I've seen this before. Can't quite spit it out.

Mount St. Helens in Washington State?

(not my photo; I found this on Google)

A few more pictures, just for the hell of it.

Spirit Lake near Mount St. Helens:

Some Water Falls near the Columbia River, on the Oregon side:

On the bridge pictured above, looking down the second part of the falls:

Went to the Oregon coast and checked out a few things. This first pic is of what they call Haystack Rock:

Then we saw a whale off the coast at (I believe) Fort Stevens:

This is "Shipwreck Beach" (very original!), again, at (I believe) Fort Stevens:

We even went further north and spent a day runnin' around Seattle. Here's a pic of the skyline from the ferry boat ride we took the kids on:

On one of our "slow" days, our friends took us to one of their local parks, and we played in the water for a while to cool off (it was in the low to mid 90's the whole week):

Thanks for sharing The Columbia River Gorge is beautiful. I saw you made it to Multanomah Falls. There are probably a dozen falls, not quite as famous, but still as nice.

Your kids are adorable. When do they get to learn to drive your Jeep?

Yes, the Multnomah Falls are really something to see 'live'! We stopped at a couple of the other ones as well (the pics above are of Multnomah and one other fall).

Thanks for the compliments on the kids...so far, we've been lucky and they don't seem to be TOO much in terrorist mode! lol

Jake (8 years old) has already asked me several times if I would still have my Jeep when he's old enough to get a vehicle, so that he can get a Jeep and we can go on trips together! He's my usual companion when I go offroading. I'll make sure to bring him to the next IDTT run, since he hasn't been out there yet.

Great pics! Washington State is freaking gorgeous, but SoCal still ROCKS! Looks like you have a great time with the family. Thanks for the report.

I like the pics from "shipwreck beach"! Cool stuff! How do you find out about these things? I want to plan a really cool trip going to interesting places all the way up PCH. I'm sure there's books, but I'm cheap and I don't read.
