The trick is to look before the Moon rises. Plan your meteor watch for 8:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, August 12. The Moon won't be up yet and, in the darkness just after sunset, a special kind of meteor may appear: the Perseid Earthgrazer.

Best viewing time is after midnight when the earth faces into the debre. You may see some before but mostly after 12:00. The moon then will ruin it.

Sweet, thanks. Glad I asked. Going to head up to Santiago Peak to check it out. I was tolds to go tonight, but now I am going to wait untill tomorrow or Sat. to check it out..I wasnt suer if the gates stay open at night, I just called the ranger and they said the are open through out the night.

We should be going tonight, so If you end up there tonight, look for a white jeep with the MJR sticker on it. I wanna be up there by 7 and we are just going to hang out up there for a bit....
