  • Where I've been.. also a useful bikini top?

Hey guys.. haven't been on the board in for freakin' ever.. so an update to those that remember me..

    Since I was here last:

    - Bought a house
    - Got Married
    - Two Kids
    - Now own my business
    - made treasurer of international non-profit org.

between all my family and business commitments, haven't had much time to talk jeeps.. and my yj has suffered as a result.. Finally got around to cleaning her out and straightening out some issues its had lately.

My Taurus Fan finally kicked the bucket - (many of you might recognize my writeup hosted over on myjeeprocks.com) I suspect is has something to do with the overcurrent resistor. Replaced the mech. fan and it's all good.

My 8klb harbor-fruit winch (one of the first) is still running strong, yet I need a new cable for it..(snapped the last one)although it might be cheaper to just upgrade to the 10k HF winch

Anyway.. I have been driving the heep around the last few weeks with the top completely off, throwing a tarp over it when necessary. It occurred to me:

Why doesn't someone make a Safari-style bikini-top with integrated roll-down sides to protect your jeep when it rains? it would be simple, fast, and easy to use, particularly when your doors are at home and you're at the supermarket.

Maybe something like this would suit your pruposes, although, I don't know if they make one for the YJ or not...(?):

I think this will be my replacement top, whenever that time comes. :thumbs_up

I've seen those.. I don't think there is one available for the YJ because you'd have to have a rail for the top to connect to.. I'm thinking something more like this http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/P...014058/c-10108 which has the sides roll down when you need them.
