  • strange vehicle recovery

I was visiting a construction site this morning (I'm an architect...) and I performed a vehicle recovery on a contractor's pickup that had gotten stuck in a 4" deep mud pit...

I guess the Jeep reigns both in the city as well as in the backcountry...

    Urban recoveries are the BEST

I once pulled a stalled vehicle out of an intersection during rush hour traffic. A cop pulled up and asked us what the hell I was doing, thinking I had something to do with his vehicle stalling there. I replied that I had a tow strap and that I was just going to try to get him out of traffic. The cop immediately apologized and helped get him all set up...then gave us an escort out of traffic, to a safe place to pull over.

The owner of the stalled vehicle offered me twenty bucks- I said "No thanks- Its what Jeep owners do Pay it forward ."

Hahaha, awesome! We had some fun here last year when it snowed - cars and even trucks couldn't get up the slightest hills.

I pulled a chinese couple out of a deep snow bank (created by the plows) last year. He couldn't say much with his broken English other than he thought I was an "angel sent by God".

I didn't have the heart to tell him I was just on my way to lunch and God didn't have anything to do with it.

When I first got my Jeep I pulled a RV out of a small ditch in a lot next to a gas station. He tried driving through it and his rear bumper and hitch hit the edge and his tires were a couple inches off the ground. I had a lot of people stop pumping gas to see this little Jeep pull this huge RV out. I would not of even tried it but guy that used to own a Jeep said it would be no problem. My other rescue was pulling a disabled F-350 off of a freeway offramp. It died halfway in the slow lane and off ramp on an up hill ramp. After the rock races last month I passed a disabled van and saw the driver walking down the road with a gas can. I told her to go back to her van and emptied one of my Jerry cans into her tank. I then noticed she had a tire that was almost flat and used my powertank to air it up. All of them offered me money for helping them but like Jeepgal I refused.
