They interrupted network programming up here to announce it. The newcaster looked scared as hell, even though there's no way it would have made it into Puget Sound. Apparently towns all up and down the coast were evacuating to higher ground. Too bad they don't have more accurate means of predicting these things.

That was crazy last night! That was the last thing I expected to hear.

Glad it didnt turn into anything major.

I'm on Maui right now and they gave us the warning last night ... that was "interesting" until they said there's no destructive tsunami to worry about this time

I was ready to jump in the jeep (rental) and head straight for the mountain!

After the big event last year we are going to get these warnings everytime there is a off shore earthquake. To avoid lawsuits.
It will be trendy for a few years, then they will be ignored again.
Unfortunately the news needs sensationalism, look at your local news, it has nothing really of value in it, just car chases and Micheal Jackson. Would a trail of a child molester in Hemet make the news?
If you want real news you have to get the BBC feed or something that is not dependent on ratings like PBS, and the feds just jerked the funding for PBS. Kinda wonder if they are making it hard for us to get real news.
I think most americans could care less about what is going on anyway.
For an experiment, ask someone at work what the name of their represenative in Sacramento is.
Then ask them if they voted last time.
But they will bitch if something is not to their liking.
