  • tent heater

i just picked one of these babies up. it is a sweet heater.
i'll let you know after this weekend how it works out.

it runs for 8 hours at 3000 btu on a propane bottle.
the batteries that run the fan are good for 18 hours. this will move the heat around the whole tent.

Erik how much space do you need to have around the heater for it to be safe?

minimal. it heats to 850 or so, which is less than combustion point for a tent, or sleeping bags.

yes.. that is the inside temperature of the heating element. that is not the part you could touch, nor the amount of heat it puts out.
if i remember correctly [fat chance] a cigarette cherry is just over 2000*

it says that it needs 6 square inches of ventilation, and 2' of space in front of the heater free of tent, sleeping bags, etc...
it will be perfect for my big tent.

Steel is almost like a taffy bar at 2000 degrees. Only not as sweet and a little harder to chew.

I like the idea of a tent heater, but I'm still a little skeered of the CO produced. And I've got a bitchin' sleeping bag, too.
