Mudding on JB at night is fun too, had a hoot tonight, haven't had this much fun in my lil yeller Jeep in a long time. Slip sliding in the mud and on rocks is fun now and then

Sorta, smaller tires makes for smaller rocks and a bigger change of damage. One feller in our group ran JB on 32's had a heck of a time getting over some of the pebbles, had to power and bump over stuff that you and I can crawl over without effort. More control leads to less damage and abuse of your vehicle.

I agree with you 100% that the bigger tires result in more control and less damage IF the driver cares about controlling wheel spin and avoiding trail damage. Sometimes drivers substitute tire size (and beefed up axles) for skill and they power over an obstacle instead of using driving finesse to pick a line which minimizes wheel spin. That leads to bigger tire ruts and makes it tougher for the next driver. Who's never seen a buggy with huge tires claw they way over an obstacle with wheels spinning and leaving huge ruts and holes behind them?
