Had fun today at work, guy changed a turbo on a Detroit 60, but didn't drain the oil from the failed turbo from the charge air cooler.
Fired it up, idled fine, backed it out of the shop to burn the oil off. Hit the throttle and the engine ran away. Smoke billowing out of it engine screaming at close to 10 grand or something, coolant dumping out of it, belt came flying off, then it died. Pretty cool to watch. 20 seconds or so of sheer screaming fun.
Looked for a few seconds for a board to cut of the intake air, after that I didn't want to go near the thing for fear of engine parts flying out of the thing. Pretty cool to watch it self destruct. Woulda made a really cool you tube video. Oh well will keep one of us busy for over a week putting another engine in.
