Tomorrow is five weeks since the transplant and recovery is going well.
Bryant is healing slowly but surely. He returned to work part-time.
Evan has been feeling great! His new kidney (Yoda) has been functioning as expected with only a few hiccups.
Hydration is KEY to keeping his kidney happy and avoiding rejection. He is required to drink a minimum of 80 ounces a day. This doesn't sound like a lot for most of us but before his transplant he was restricted to about half that. He feels a bit water logged and has a difficult time remembering to drink. This bit of info leads us to the hiccup. Evan's creatinine levels have been inching up over the past week. This can be caused by failing to hydrate properly or rejection and probably a few other things we may not be aware of.
Evan had his dialysis catheter removed and while he was under anesthesia his nephrologist did a biopsy of his kidney to get a better picture of the situation. The results showed that he is a knucklehead and needs to drink more but the kidney is functioning really well and "cleaning house!".
BONUS Info: Eli's transplant process is moving along nicely. He's been approved for transplant! This will happen near the end of June to allow for recovery from Evan's transplant.
