  • Speaking of Emergency Preparedness!

I have been without electricity since noon yesterday. LeAnne & I enjoyed a quiet evening reading by kerosene lamps and warmed by our wood burning stove. Just like our great grandparents would have spent the evening!

Edison says the power may not be restored until this afternoon - maybe...

I was unable to get my gnerator running last night. This morning one of my sons stopped by and helped me get in running. Okay, I confess, I helped him!

I've got power to both refergerators, my computer, and my satellite internet system.

I have learned that the modern blend of gasoline has almost no shelf life. Not quite sure how to keep gas on hand for my generator if it doesn't keep. BTW all the gas stations in Lucerne Valley are closed because of the power outage. Anyone know if it's possible to convert my generator to propane? It's a Chinese knockoff Briggs & Stratton with a carborator.

Roger I use Sta-bil fuel stabilizer in my generator and never have a problem with it starting.

      Fuel stabilizer

I have a Honda knock off made in China, and I use the fuel stabilizer in the tank of the generator. I also shut off the fuel and run the gas out of the carb before storing it. After sitting about 8 to 10 months, it usually starts on the 2nd or 3rd pull.

Did pretty much the same yesterday Roger. We lost power for approx 24 hours over here in Phelan. It's back on now.
