  • Emergency Alerts

My wife and I recently made the decision to drop our land line house phone as a cost cutting measure. We both have cell phones, so we felt we could live with out the land line.

I just realized that I would no longer receive Emergency Alerts from the Sheriff's Dept or the County Fire Dept. Where we live here in Lucerne Valley, we have been alerted several times.

    I went here: http://my.sbcounty.gov/Tens/TensContact.aspx

and registered my cell phone for text alerts. This registration is only for those who live in San Bernardino County. A quick google search will lead you to your county's registration system if you want to add your cell phone. It only takes a minute to register and it's well worth it.

Thanks Roger. I too, no longer have a land line. Funny, my 2 1/2 year old probably won't even remember land lines used to be in homes...by the time he's my age, the cell will be implanted in our heads!
