Welding with car batteries

we always carried welding rod and jumper cables just for that. I now carry a ready welder. Works much better.

i welded my finger with a car battery. After my battery cable was melted by my headers I forgot about the bare cable and reached down to get something, my gold wedding band touched the bare cable and the jeeps body and sparks shot everywhere. I got some blisters and then I got yelled at for melting part of my ring. lol. so I know for a fact that it only takes 1 battery to melt gold. haha

do they cover it up in case the battery explodes or something?

That F-ing HURTS. Been there done that. I melted mine nearly in half into my finger.

Ready welder would be nice but a bit pricey for now. We cover the batteries and of course the fire ring was cleaned out. I can't believe you even had to think about it.
