If you have a friend at a tow company you can have them lien sale it to you. It’s what they do with abandoned cars. It costs about $50. They send a certified mail letter to the last registered address every day for a month. If no response is received by the DMV they will send you lien sale paperwork that you can take to the DMV for a title. In order to lien sale you need to have some kind of financial interest in the vehicle. If you have done repairs that were not paid for or if it has been abandoned on your property for some time you can claim a storage fee. Check our lienonus.com.
