• Could ruin your day!

Living in the desert for 12 years, the Black Widows are normally outside or in the garage at night. These two would have sucked for the dog during the day light. That time of year for desert dwellers, and snakes too! Still beats the city.

Barb insists we get the house sprayed every other month. It keeps these unwelcome guests at bay for the most part. I also make sure there are no leaks on any outside spigots. Widows love to nest near moisture.

Have seen five rattlers and two sidewinders this season so far. I think they're gonna be more of a problem than the insects this year.

Those things seem to prefer my jeep to anywhere else. I've found about 5 on it in the last 3 weeks.

they will ruin your day indeed. they wont kill you but you will most likely get pretty sick and it hurts. if your allergic then its worse.

small children and pets are much more vulnerable.
The spider to be careful of is the brown recluse. both will deteriorate your flesh. not pretty.

I spent 3 days in Barstow community hospital after a Black Widow bite. I had an allergic reaction to it.

Your stomach muscles get tight and you can't inhale. Once thats over they give you medicine to make you sweat the toxin out and thats real fun to go through.

My friend that got bit by a rattlesnake in Calico had it better than I did with the spider bite.

A marine on Camp Pendelton almost died after being bit by a black widow on the penis while trying to use a portajohn.

Its as much fun getting dirty as it is being dirty in a Jeep!

Damn!

I remember having to look for widows in the outhouse at my Grandmother's cabin up in Lake Isabella when we were kids.
I was cutting the bushes today out front of the house today and ran across one of those. So much for city living. We still get them here. Especially in the gazebo. They like the warm moist air that the spa generates. My wife makes me spray for bugs monthly.
