  • Your ATM info

    :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

You know, I'm just wondering what kind of "ASSNAPKIN" would steal my ATM info and then go to Vegas on me!?!

Now, I'm not usually a vengful person but, I sure hope you walk across the street and get hit by a really big ASS truck! You truly are a huge piece of :poop:

...and a HUGE thanks to my Bank's Loss Prevention and Fraud Department for catching this, putting a hold on my card and calling me right away!!!! Once I called them back and they found out I wasn't in Vegas using my ATM Card, and that I was at work in Rialto, They canceled my card and assure me that the money will be refunded to me!

****Info for you High Desert residents, I believe it happened at the ARCO AM/PM at Roy Rogers and Civic Dr. in Victorville. That's the only place out of the norm that I have used my ATM Card in the last few weeks! I got Gas for Lesa's Jeep and I used the outside "Pay at the Pump" ATM Machine.****

    Scott,
Glad to hear you will get your money back. I had the same thing happen to me a couple of years back. I had checked my online bank info and saw that my wife had a surprise for me. :yay: A new cell phone.
But then she went to a few other stores that same day on a small shopping spree. Nope! I thougt, damn honey, slow down. It turns out that my number got lifted from a restaurant I had used my card at. That was the only time I had, like you, used the card out of the norm.
I do use those outside pay at the pump terminals but I always scrutinize them first.

Good thing your bank was watching card activity.

        Scott,

Can you wire me some cash, I'm in Vegas and my new card doesn't work!

Thanks for the post. Sorry to hear about that, but we all need to be careful. I'm really thinking about doing more of the cash thing. Let me know if you need some back-up, I hate missing a good ass-kickin!

Glad to hear your bank caught this issue and that you won't be out the money or have to deal with a big hassle to get your money back. I had this a while back on a credit card and got a call from my bank asking me if I had purchased an item . . . I guess the red flag was that it was going to be shipped to Zimbabwe! I've heard of employees stealing the info . . . especially at restaurants where they take your bill and go into the back with it . . . but I've also heard that devices can be placed on the card readers at gas pumps, etc and will scan your card info when you insert it. Might be a good idea to call the manager at the ARCO and let him know the situation.

Why text it? Just post up here!

That's great that it was caught and you'll be refunded. Bummer that it happened though, and some scumbag gets a free trip to Vegas. I watch my bank account like a hawk ever since something similar happened to my father.

                  Update:

After talking with my bank, looks like I'll be getting a visit from the local PoPo sometime today for the Police Report and then I have to Fax all that info to my Bank for the dispute. They said their investigation will take 10 to 20 days but could take as much as 45 days if needed.

It looks like over a 4 hour period they hit my ATM card 4 different times at 4 different locations in Vegas. So far only one transaction has gone through for a $100. According to the bank, there are still 3 more transactions out there for unknow amounts, Guess I get to wait it out to see what the final damage will be! :hide:

                  This really BLOWS!!!!!

Lots of video camaras in Vegas . . . sure would be sweet if they catch this crook.

Remember awhile back, the car wash on highway 18 had the employees taking the numbers and selling them to a group in Vegas. Looks like maybe same group at it again? Something to check into!

The asst chief of police of LA said something I took to heart several years back
first he said it is a matter of when not if it will happen to you
second, he said never use your atm or credit card at a gas station, they use wireless networks and all a guy has to do is have a capture device and it is over
he also said store no numbers on your computer as they get worms into your machine while you are online that use your email account to send them that info
and third, never send CC info online, call them direct.
I have followed all of them and never had a problem, seems the wife uses ATM at Gas stations, we traced a ID theft of her card to a Gas Station, she has stopped doing that.

Great advise and I'll be following it!

You know, you never give things a second thought most of the time... like handing your card to some waitress or Waiter,.... standing at the checkout line and punching in your Pin # with people standing right behind you.... you just do it and then you get screwed! .......Well let me tell you, ...You definatly see thing much different after you've been screwed! I hope this never happens to any of you!

If I could only exact some kind of revenge on these "ASSNAPKINS" I'd feel alot better!

I suppose all I can hope for is that Carma catches up with them!

I know she will never use one there again. They drained 1400 dollars in five hours.
I think the added hassle of security is worth it.
