Anyone ever go hunting here? Is my first time hunting in Cali. I am pretty excited about it. We are going for pig.

There's a lot of public pressure up there. The areas you're likely to find pigs are straight up and down. Bring a pack frame, bone out the pig and pack it out. Bring lots of water. Good luck.

Nope another trophy (tag) for my draw......... Tons of Does but no shooter bucks. I really wish I could of had more time out there. I took some incredible pictures of some elk that I stalked for about 2 hours just to get theses shots. It was really nice out there. I usually go hunting out in Kern at South Fork and again no bucks just does. It was a rough season the most walking I have ever done to come up empty. Next season Im going to try out D17 looking forward to that. Heres a few shots a took.....

That's my kinda country . . . love the rolling hills with Oak Trees . . . is there much in the way of 4x4 trails up there?
That which does not kill me postpones the inevitable.

I have been there some time ago hunting pigs..
What are you bringing with you to shoot them with? A .357 can be a good time if you are going into the brush after them.

.30/06 is too much and will make a mess of the meat.
If you are going for one to eat, the smaller ones are better.

If you re after a trophy, the 3-400# beasts will not be as tasty as the 100#.

Some other places that I have been successful in the past on BLM land ate in San Luis Obispo, and Paso Robles.

It sure helps to know someone with some property in either of those places. (wish I did)

Good luck out there and be sure to take some pictures.
Stay down wind. Those pigs can smell you from quite a distance.

Sorry for the slow reply, I've been out of town the last couple day's. The video was shot in California when Shari was rifle and I was pistol hunting.

Warning! Non-Peta friendly video. If you don't hunt, don't watch.

LOL.... Well, California is a pretty big place. What County in CA?
Was this private land, BLM or a paid hunt?

                          Too vague huh?

The first video was some footage of public property in Fresno County, a friends cattle ranch in SLO county and another friend's cattle ranch in Ventura County. Shari's hunt was guided in Kern County.
