My Dad decided to not let me lift my Jeep because he thinks it is bad for it, I have worked my ass off this summer to do this (made about $2500) and now I cant. I choose to work for my Jeep rather than enjoy summer with my friends, guess it wasn't worth it.

Enjoy the jeep the way it is! You can do a ton of trail in CO with a stock jeep and sway bar disconnects.

Score some 31s a nice sway bar system and go have fun! I lived in CO for many years had a blast with that exact setup. You will be amazed what you can do with your jeep. Learn to drive it semi stock and when your out on you own go WASTE your money like the rest of us.

I agree with Jimmyrig. You'll be 18 in just a couple of years and at the rate your saving money, you'll be able to really trick it out!

Trust me, your dad is looking out for you. A lot of guys your age do dumb things and either kill themselves or really injure themselves. Be patient, I'm sure your dad loves you and only wants the best (long term) for you.

Have a blast with your jeep the way it is! Remember stock Jeeps played a big part in winning WWII.

That is some of the very BEST advice I have ever heard. You have the FEVER, and you will enjoy the Jeep thing for many years. Bummer it didn't work out this time, but it will at some point.

BTW.........the best Jeepers are those that can do the most with the least. In other words, having a built Jeep does not make one a good driver.

Thanks for the support guys, I have decided to save up until I'm 18 (next summer) and put a 4 inch long arm kit and a 1 inch body lift with 35's and of course lock the front and rear. I'm thinking this will cost around $6000-$8000. Also I have decided to put the $2500 I made this summer into my savings account for college.

Dude, you are awesome! With a college education you'll have even more $$ to spend on Jeeps! Any idea what you want to major in?

My dad was the same way. He was a Sheriff at that time (since retired). Everything had to be legal, legal. I was into lowering my stuff back many moons ago. He would actually have the neighbor across the street come over to double check my truck since she was CHP. lol. Now as an adult, it did stick with me. I double check things to make sure their safe. Ask a few of my friends around here, they will tell you! Does that mean my Jeep, truck, etc is legal? Of course not!! You too will learn from this and good will come from it. Trust me. Did I do that to my oldest you might ask? Nope. When she grew up, nothing she had was stock from quads to cars. Feel bad for her husband...lol His dime now.

Maybe he will let you put some bigger tires on. At least to stock look is gone. Its worth you asking.

Sounds like my youngest son. He loves history and mentioned he might persue teaching.

All of the advice above is Awesome stuff. Sounds like you kind of got over it quickly and realize whats really important.

Tell ya what, you want to help your dad to understand? Take him along on your stock Jeep excursions and I suspect he just might get hooked or at least understand better what Your wanting to do to your Jeep. Worst case, you get to spend some quality time together.
                      Priceless.

                        Hey Chris,
Chances are your Jeep could take 31x10.5's with no problem. You might be able to go up to 32x11.5's. The case could be made that bigger tires without the lift makes the Jeep more stable.

I run 31x10.5x15 BFG All-Terrains. Last October they out performed everyone else a run in the snow & ice. All the other guys were running 33's & 35's. They really struggled to get up an icy hill, but I sailed right up it like it was dry!

                        Keep us updated on this!

I was really hoping that my dad might get hooked on this, honestly we are not as close as we use to be. So to me it would be nice if we shared a common intrest like this, and repair the bond.
