Big Bear Woman Dies When Tree Strikes SUV

Big Bear Lake, CA - A 31-year-old Big Bear Lake woman — identified as Elena Martinez — was killed yesterday in the 400 block of Catalina Road when a tree split and struck her SUV.

At 4:58 p.m. yesterday, the San Bernardino County Coroner confirmed Martinez was the sole occupant of the dark Chevrolet Suburban when the tree crushed the driver side compartment. She was pronounced dead by paramedics at 12:05 p.m.
