  • New Generation of Fire Fighting Aircraft.

Southern California Logistics Airport, Victorville CA. (SCLA or VCV) has been the home of the "Ten Tanker" for the last two fire seasons. This year there will be two DC 10's on line ready to go to fight this year's wild fires. They have the capability of dropping 12,000 gallons of fire retadant!

In addition to these two DC 10's there will be an Evergreen Boeing 747 Supertanker. This aircraft holds 24,000 gallons of fire retardant. It arrives at SCLA Sunday 5/17 to begin testing next week with CALFire.

Here's a link to watch the 747 at work: http://www.evergreenaviation.com/supertanker/index.html

Please note that previous air tankers & helocopters have a capacity between 1,500 and 3,00 gallons of fire retardnt

I'm very proud of the fact that my airport is the West Coast Super Tanker Base.
