This is what should have happened right away. Glad to hear it.

Obama didn't have a comment or talk about this until it's over. Now he sounds like it was all his idea and that he's the hero.

Glad the captin (the real hero) was not hurt.

I think it’s a good thing that Obama didn't talk about it when it was going on. This is why Americans are targeted overseas. If a terrorist organization wants the attention of the president of the USA all he needs to do is capture an American and hold him for ransom. I am glad they got our guy back and I hope that the fate of these three pirates is an example to the rest. Hats off to the three snipers who took three simultaneous unbelievable shots. The skill required to fire that accurately from that far from one swaying boat to another swaying boat, just incredible.

I have to agree, Obama did right giving the order to use the force but keeping that private. It was enough of a media circus without having to involve our President in chest banging. I do have to give thumbs up to Obama for this.

During lunch today I studied the Gulf of Adan on Google maps. I admit that I'm no Military planner. But in looking at the map it seemed like it would be pretty easy for the navies of the world to work together and form convoys of ships and escort them through the area. Rather than the ships go alone. In the meantime use, droans, satelite, and secret ops to find and destroy the "mother ships" as the pirates call them. Don't say a word just take 'em out quietly. When the pirates stop coming home, the other bad guys may decide to find another occupation. Hey it could work!

those are 3 great snipers! and i agree with roger, head in there and just start blowing stuff up. im not sure if its international waters or not, but if these guys are pirates does that not negate any laws that govern atacking ships flying foriegn flags? if the navys of the world can take a free and clear shot at these guys i say take it. lay a mean whoop on them!

[COLOR="Sienna"]on the other hand, shipping companies could hire "decoy" ships. Vessles that look like weak, slow moving cargo ships, essentially like any other cargo ship. However the crew of the ship could be entirely comprised of mercinaries. The sole purpose of taking out these pirates and killing them, not sending them to prison or putting them on trial. Just kill them, cut the bodies up into pieces and throw the chum overboard.

yeah, I was talkin' with a co-werker and we figured what they should do is get a cargo ship, and just mount a couple of R2-D2 w/ hardon behind some tarps and just wait for the multiple targets to arrive, and then just hamburger them...

I heard that more ships have been taken over this week. Times must be tough over there.

I think this is a constant problem. But until recently the pirates would not attack American ships. Now it’s in the spotlight.
