                Actually, I think it would have worked, but he made one small mistake. If you want a solid axle, not only do you need to weld the pinion gear to the ring gear, but it is best to weld it to the carrier and the carrier to the housing as well. That makes for a very solid rear end!

                  For additional strengh, always weld on the diff cover to seal it up real good. That will make it strong and stop any leaks.
