  • CA second Amendment update

Tomorrow in the 9th circuit court of appeals in San Francisco they are having the oral arguments in the Nordyke_v._King case. If the case goes our way the 2nd will be incorporated into the CA constitution. This may be a very historical case for California. C-Span is supposed to be there either taping or broadcasting the courtroom live. If you live in the area and can make it to the courthouse they would like to get as many gun owners in the courtroom and overflow as they can. I wish I could have got off work to go. INFO here. http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=137800

More info on the background of the case.

Some statements from the arguements today.

The county lawyer literally said that he was fine with gun shows taking place on county property, as long as no guns were displayed. One of the judges replied with something along the lines of, "Surely you aren't saying you could have a gun show without the showing of guns!" It got a good laugh from the audience.

      Noteworthy comments from county counsel:

The sale of guns could take place on county property providing that the actual showing of the guns took place off county property.

He believed the ruling of Heller which clearly said that individuals have the right to keep and bear arms didn't translate into the right of individuals to purchase arms. (So...we're supposed to make them ourselves?)

He believed that Heller gave people the right to keep and bear arms on one's own private property, but not on public property. (And how exactly do we transport these guns from the place of purchase to our homes?)

There will probably more info in the 2nd amendment section on Calguns tommorow. They went out for dinner and drinks after the arguements so after they recover from their hangovers they will probably post more.

You can listen to the arguements here. The complete audio is only 42 minutes long.

Hoping for the best but no matter which way this goes, I will no relinquish my only means of protection from a potentially corrupt government. I will not be the one murdered by fear mongering police..
