Where's a cop when you need one?

I mean profiling does work, whether we like it or not.
And a good cop uses his past experience to make decisions. Now that may not sound correct, as all people are different, but anyone uses his past to do his job, it is called learning.
So it may not sound right, but if it takes criminals off the streets, maybe we should consider they have a shit job that no one appreciates, and without them we would have to live a life of fear and violence.

I kinda look at it like this........ If I get a BS ticket.....
1. It might be BS but if it is a legit ticket then I was in the wrong.
2. This BS ticket makes up for the all the other times that I have done something stupid and didn't get caught.

The strange thing is if you really look at the VC book it is hard to say that cops are just messing with you because there are so many things that they can write ya on (especally Jeeps)

well i think its time to move to alberta, and this is one hell of a story.
me and a couple of friends were out camping for a birthday and i ran out of beer. well we find the soberest person around, which wasnt very sober, and head into sundre ( about 10 mile away ). well while we were leaving the camp ground the gate girl tells us that the gates lock on 5 mins. well she was cute and i talk her into coming with us. i hop in the back. and there is no seat in the back. just a sheet of 3/4 inch ply wood ( just to keep my dog and tools seperate ). well we get my beer, 4 case cause you never know and head back. thats when the popo pull us over.
and lets see if i can remember what all the stuff was. there was drinking and driving, no seat belt for me, no seat for me, tires with no mud flaps for they stick out about 5-6 inches past the wheel wells, and my insurance had expired a week before so no insurance, a burnt out tail light, and open liquir in the car.
he let me off with a warning! i was looking at over 3000 in fines. good time eh

oh and i had no exaust on the jeep. straight from the head. not that that is illegal here but the noise violation is.

Rick and I were just talking bout them there mudflaps on the Hillybilly Deluxe . . . it's just ridiculous what these guys waste their time hassling us over. Then they complain that they need more money to keep the streets safe . . . newsflash . . . it's not mudflaps and covers on lights that's the problem. Too bad catching real criminals that put others in danger doesn't make money for the PD or CHP like writing stupid tickets does.

You know, you got pulled over by a unit from Valley Traffic Division...a motor unit. His JOB is to cite motor vehicles for violating the motor vehicle code. As piddle as it seems, you did violate, so it gave him probable cause to stop you. Once he stopped you, he then has a chance to talk with you, determine your attitude, and using his judgment, investigate further, cite, or release.

I get kinda tired of all the negative views of police officers. They have their jobs, just like you and I. Their job makes them unpopular, because NO ONE likes to be stopped by them.

Just curious, who evacuated nearly 600 homes during the Sayre Fire from the Oakridge Mobile Home Park? The Los Angeles Police Department. Who gets the Hero Pat on the back? The firefighters. Go figure.

It's illegal for cops to have quotas... They have "performance goals"... duh!!!?!!

The word quota has been used in the news lately - with at least 4 officers admitting to it .... IIRC that was in Maryland.

I guess it boils down to priorities . . . and from what I can tell writing tickets and bringing in revenue takes precedence over protecting the public. I was ticketed by a CHP . . . so yes while vechicle code infractions are part of the job, so are protecting the public by catching drunk drivers, speeders, etc. I'll let you decide which is more important.

To be fair, much of the problem has to do with the system, not the individual officers . . . but perhaps if the police spent their time and our tax dollars fighting crime like firefighters fight fires, then they might be adored by the public too

If someone breaks into your house, the cops are useless 99% of the time . . . you'd better be ready to protect yourself. But that's a good idea actually . . . that crackhead might come in handy, seeing that I'd have a dead body in my house I might need a someone to be a witness that it was self defense . . . and for the price of a rock . . . or hell, maybe I just blame the whole thing on the crackhead!

If I were not edumacated I would read this and beleive that the police do absolutely no good at all and are out there just looking for the next ticket to write. General statements like this do not give a clear picture for the public you are adressing.

I disagree. Firefighters save lives and property from fire, police protect us from other people that break the law, by saying NO! you can't do that.
