  • Anybody do any mellow trail rides?

My stock TJ ain't set up for rockcrawling plus I gotta drive it to work M-F.

I don't mind the ocasional rock or whatever but nothing gnarly. Was thinking of going out and checking out whatever I/we can find out there.

    Thoughts?

I'm thinking of running up grapevine and hitting a few trails up that way this Saturday, are you interested in going? Let me know, and If anyone else is interested, let's talk.

My ol' CJ just isn't up to the rock crawling.

Grapevine canyon? Past the cell tower? I was up there last Friday evening and saw a deer and a BobCat!

Where else do you plan on going once up to the top?

There's a few trails I haven't been on in years, 3N95, 3N59 I think is the right numbers, I'll check and a few others I'm not sure of their condition but they used to be okay.

If I had more info on the White Mtn. trail, I might be tempted to run that one. We used to get firewood years ago there, but I don't think it's in good enough shape for our rigs.

Cool seeing the deer & bobcat. If we are getting serious, we should open up a thread in the Trail Run section because some who may want to go might not check this section.

Last time I was on White mountain was on a 4x4 quad and it was tretcherus (sp).

There is a neat campground near the West end of white mtn called Horse springs. Neat little place and usually empty. I go there to watch the stars.

I know it well! We went there alot before the fire went through. I was a pretty site and one of the least used campgrounds in the SBNF.

So you want to go bummin' around Saturday?

Doesn't really matter to me. I have AC!

I like old mines if you know of any that I can crawl into.

You know, Mitch (great88) just may chime in with your last idea. Although he's runnin' with the big dogs now

There's a few in the Cactus Flats area that are interesting. When Autumn gets here, there's a zillion of them out this way, but It's kinda hot as you know!

Cactus flats huh? I found one out there once that had a date written on a post underground with a 1923 date on it. I wen't back a few weeks later and it had become a bat habitat with a steel grate at the front.

Are there any interesting trails out that way?

I wish I didn't have a prior committment on Saturday or I would be there. Running with Roger and Mitch is a great way to explore............just remind Roger to keep his hubs locked when he is 4 wheel drive.

Sorry Roger..............I have waited a long time for this dig and just could not resist.

Thank you for that Brian, I'll be sure to return the favor!

BTW theives stole the State Bronze Historical marker at Hwy 18 & Rabbit Springs Rd. The ECV Monument is still there, but it's anyone's guess as to how long before that one is stolen...
