have you tried that single serving coffie packet stuff yet? the senseo or whatever? I keep wanting to try it, but dont want to buy it... yet. I drink a whole pot, so I dont know if single servings will satisfy my needs... :dunno:

Yes I have. The Maxwell House I think ... the tea-like bags, right? It's not bad, and waaaay better than instant.

I'm a fan of pressed coffee, but don't enjoy cleaning the press all the time (lots of parts). This press is really easy to clean and fun to cook with outside! It's not perfect, as I said above, it does yield a few chunks and many grounds at the bottom of the cup. We have a 12-cup perk for camping as well, but found it difficult to use with the backpacking ultralight stove.

yeah, the spectator factor of good coffie making is a tax we all pay... I have gone to instant :thumbs_do on the trail because of space issues, but it's not worth it. I gotta think of a better way. Maybe gonna go to a truckstop and git a 12v coffie maker. I don't backpack so it would werk for me.

I wasn't talking about the teabag coffie, more the fancy coffie makers they have in the stores now that make the single serving thing. Off topic I know, you need an inverter to run one of those.... Hmm...

The Jetboil is looking really good about now though

LOL, I ran our old "full sized" coffee maker off the inverter when I was at Lake Cachuma a few years back. Back when I had the full sized Bronco. Problem is - it would drag the battery down below voltage threshold on the inverter, and it would go into alarm. Biggest problem, the alarm was really loud, and in the frequency range I can't hear - so we met all the neighbors in the campsite.

Indeed! And that's a funny story Jeff!!

•!The 12v makers take about 40 minutes and are big to carry.
                      • The paper filter that you hold over your cup and pour in hot water is equally slow.
                      • The teabag type is great but you need to get that hot water - you could use the jetboil - but I like the taste of pressed better.
                      • The perk is ok, it's big, it makes alot and is great if you carry a thermos - but the stove and the pot take up a bunch of room too.
                      • I would rather drink no coffee than instant, but you still need hot water, so the jetboil can work for this too.
                      • I'm sure I'm missing a few other gadgets that we've tried. Even though the jetboil has a lower yield it should be enough to hold one person for a while. Rick and I may need to get an extra cook pot to keep both of us happy, but even that together has still the smallest footprint. Not sure if you've noticed but the little pot also comes with a drink-top, so you don't necessarily even need a mug.

Now I feel like having some coffee!

I'm going to have to put a JetBoil and a Son of Hibachi on the Christmas list now... But what I really want is an off list stripped lower reciever!

                            Going off topic here...

I am currently in negotiations right now, My Daughter is pulling her weight on the matter, but I have to acctually go out on a run before we talk about camping. :thumbs_up

I am trying to get a kitchen pass to go to the next (let's say JULY) adopt-a-trail shin-dig, but that Thread has yet to nail down a date. Russ? Sara? Hello? :dunno:

I did take the Spirit to werk the other day, and I did pick up Paul and run around in the hills out here in Helendale for about an hour, so the Jeep is still in good working order.

Things with the Wife are going to have to be really stellar for the camping to be on the table. Begging is just not cutting it anymore
