  • New Cell Phone Law for California

The Governator is signing a new law for California. I believe it goes into effect July. While driving, you can not use a cell phone, unless you have a wireless/hard wired ear piece in one ear only. We all knew about this one. However, what I didn't know was:

For any drivers under the age of 18....absolutely no cell phone usage in the car at all!

Just give them all a 5-speed stick. Problem solved!

The phone users here in the Valley can write a text letter, talk, eat a burger, have a drink ,and lite a smoke, all at the same time and then ya honk your horn at them and they relize they,re in a vehicle...I love the new law ,but doubt it,ll do any good..Geebo

yeah, the new law does not say anything about texting, you can still drive and text... and it has no provision for dialing or recieving, so you can still dial a call while driving, and you can still pick up the phone to recieve yer calls...

as for the 18yr old thing, in a few years they won't issue driver licenses to anyone under the age of 18, so that is gonna be a wash in short order anyways.

of course it's all just another way the politicians spend our tax dollars.

Haha... I put in a windshield mount for my cell phone so I don't have to look down to see who's calling me. I can't look down, shift and steer all at the same time, let alone try to hold a phone to my ear. I also remember to take it with me since it's right in front of me. I have a really nice bluetooth headset that spends it's life on the charger at home. I really don't like being bothered while driving the Jeep. It takes away from the Jeeping experience... even if it's on the street.

It's no big deal for me. I usually allready have the earbuds from my i-phone in my ears anyway. When the call comes in, the tunes fade out and the call fades in automatically.

That's why I had to get a Jawbone with Noise Cancelling Technology, and then not use it
