  • RockHard . . . not just a name

Well I got to test out my new RockHard bumper/tire carrier today . . . not on the rocks, but in the Togo's parking lot! So I pull out of the parking spot I was in and was about to pull away when I hear someone yell "stop, stop" followed by the sound of crumpling metal and plastic breaking. A young lady backed right into me. So I park the Jeep, get out and notice two tiny marks on my bumper and a tiny chip of paint off of my HiLift. Her compact on the other hand didn't fare so well . . . crumpled corner, broken light, etc. I felt really bad for her . . . she was really appologetic, knowing that it was her mistake, and asked if my Jeep was okay and if I needed her insurance info . . . the poor thing. I remember getting in a parking lot fender bender years ago and getting sued for injuries (was totally bogus) so I just let her know not to worry about it, hoping some good Karma will come my way! Just one more advantage to driving a Jeep I guess.

now the real question is how nice she would be if you backed into her?

I too had a fender bender in a parking lot, well more like a scratch thing. I was waiting for a space to open and a guy tried to swoop by me and clipped my rear bumper wing. His POS was seriously damaged, his front fender totally caved in. I tried to be nice and all, but we still exchanged information just in case I had hidden damage. Seeing that the plastic corner piece was barely scratched and there was no other damage, I said what the hell, no claim. Then, he filed a claim against my insurance Co saying I backed into him, and when he was denied the claim, he took me to small claims. The case ended up being dismissed but it was a royal PITA to deal with.

Being nice is good, but sometimes you have to protect yourself.

Rock Hard makes some great stuff. I like them so much I have their front bumper, rear bumper, rack, tire carrier, and full cage. All are very durable and nicely priced.
                    Check out .

I agree, but any aftermarket bumper with a Hi-Lift mounted on will pretty much destroy any soap box on wheels.

I hit the right rear corner of a dodge ram in the parking lot at werk, going slow to pull into the space next to it and hit ice... slid right into it. $3,500 damage to the truck. nothing but a scratch on the jeep! I destroyed his bumper and crumpled the bed so bad they ended up getting a bed from a junkyard and painting the truck...

of course I am still paying my insurance man for that one, totally my fault, but the truck owner was cool... he knew where I werked, he was a co-werker....
