Torque Wrenches

This may be a silly question, but I'm assuming 12 inch pounds is equal to 1 foot pound of torque? I ask, because I was given a 25-250 inch pound torque wrench.

I have always used that conversion factor. The conversion to newton meters is a factor like .133 (but don't quote me on that one, as I would have to look it up).

yes that's right... and if you do the math you will see why the ft lb torque wrenches that go to 120ftlb aint labeled that way... it's a whole lot of inch lbs...

Aren't ft-lb torque wrenches a 1/2" socket and in-lb torque wrenches 3/8" and 1/4" sockets? At least that's how mine are set up.

Typically, foot lb wrenches are 1/2 inch drive and inch lb wrenches are 3/8 drive. I think that has more to do with the maximum capability of each/the types of uses they are typically designed for. I do believe that the conversin factor is still the same.

mine doesnt have inlbs, considering its like 3 feet loong, a 3/4 drive 300ftlbs wrench. got it for 100 bucks though, so thats a steal
