If anybody checks MJR before heading out to Pomona this morning, DON'T DO IT! I'm saving you $12!

The offroad expo is a joke this time around. It's tiny, in one building only, and a waste of time/gas/money. I went in 2006 and it was great. Apparently there's 2 expos a year and the springtime one is a dud. Save you money for the one coming in October!

Thanks Matt! I went to the one a few months back and was disappointed with that one too and it sounds like it was much bigger taking up 6-8 of the buildings. If I was a offroad parts distributer or building a custom rig, I could see the value, but I think when I went I paid something like $25 to get in including parking (not including the 1/2 tank of gas) and ended up with a pair of tire deflators and sore feet! I did however decorate the wall of my garage with the posters and stickers I got there which was probably the most I got out of the day. Makes me feel a bit better hearing your review seeing that Rick was planning to go, but ended up wrenching on my Jeep instead!!!

Realize that this is the first spring expo theyve had. Im not sure if thats the reason it was so small. The regular one is in October each year.

          That explains it.

          Thanks Tam!

Anybody famous there? Off-Road celebs and whatnot.

              Expo

I agree and disagree. I was there, and after paying $8 to park and $20 for admission for my wife and I, I was bummed that it was just one room AND the outside area. I was told the the one on the fall will be FIVE TIMES as big. But, I got a great deal on a pair of Tuffy wheel well boxes for my Jeep. I saved about $90 including free shipping and NO TAX! So that made it worth it for me.

I also liked meeting the people behind some of the brands I used in my CJ7 restore and voicing my opinions about their products. They seemed like they cared and some even took my info so they could contact me about future focus groups.

Why? Are celebs any better than the rest of us grunts? The only semi-famous person I met there was Dino from the Tom Leykis Show and they interviewed me for their HD version of the Tom Leykis Show....LOL

Of course they are! Just look at their hair!

I just think it's fun. I go to SEMA every year and even if the show is a dud, I try to get as many celeb handshakes as I can. Makes it a little interesting. Same thing with OC auto show.

                    I saw Rick Russel...

                    Muddy,

I didn't see GenRight, Kilby, and many other "small-to-medium" types there. I only saw the really big buys (4 wheel parts) and a couple really small ones (Beaumont Driveline). Glad you enjoyed your parking/admission! We walked away empty handed and my step dad had a wallet full of dough looking to throw at his 2005 Unlimited.

Glad you had a good time though!

It was VERY last minute for us to go (4 Wheel Parts). We didn't intend to, but they gave us too good a deal at the last minute to back out.

I worked the booth Friday night, and it was very, very slow. I don't know how they did over the weekend, but I'll bet it wasn't really worth it. Time will tell, I guess.

I got to stop by on Friday before the show opened, and was fortunate enough to get to drive TCG's rock buggy in the outdoor rock crawling demo area. That was very cool...........and now I NEED a crawler. The show looked awfuly week. The two shows a year thing may quickly become a thing of the past, as many I spoke to did not want to have a booth as the cost was prohibitive. From what I can see, the early results are not showing this second show in a favorable light, so I doubt we will see it again. We just have to wait for October for the big show.
