  • 4000th Iraq casualty laid to rest.

I just returned from the funeral ceremony of PFC. George Delgado of Palmdale Ca. He and 3 other were killed when their vehicle was hit by and IED. I was with the Patriot Guard Riders. On Monday they escorted his casket and family from the airport to the mortuary. This morning they escorted from the mortuary to the church. We formed a line of flags going to the entrance to the church. We did the same after the service. We then escorted the funeral procession to the Riverside National Cemetery. We had between 30 to 40 motorcycles and a few cars. After we arrived at the RNC the director informed us that PFC. Delgado was the 4000th casualty.

It was a very emotional day. One of my fellow riders pulled out of the procession as we got near Riverside. When he caught up with us at the cemetery he told me that when we passed a group of people saluting the procession on the side of the road, his eyes teared up so much he couldn't see to drive. I feel very honored that I was able to participate in this young soldiers ceremony.

    RIP Soldiers.

Pvt. George Delgado, 21, of Palmdale, Calif.
Staff Sgt. Christopher M. Hake, 26, of Enid, Okla.
Pfc. Andrew J. Habsieger, 22, of Festus, Mo.
Spc. Jose A. Rubio Hernandez, 24, of Mission, Texas.

One thing I made note of last weekend coming home from Calico was that there was no funeral going on when I past by the cemetary off the 15 in Victorville. But the reality is that they still are going on somewhere. I know we have quite the number of active service personnel here on this board and I extend my heartfelt thanks to each and everyone of you for your service.

They did a story in the local paper and the LA times had an article today. I get my information from www.patriotguard.org. It doesn't matter if you ride a motorcycle or show up in your car or Jeep. Their mission is to show respect to the fallen hero and their family.
