The closest trails for you would be in the San Bernardino Mountains. However, they are closed until further notice because of the fires.
There are lots of other places if you drive up to the high desert: Johnson Valley, Stoddard Wells, Calico, and El Mirage. They are all about an hour or 2 drive from Riverside.

used to live in riverside, and most of the old haunts I would run are gone now, developed areas are all closing it up. Moreno valley has some easy stuff in the hills, Temecula area has some hills, lots of private land though. There is some stuff in Idylwilld (sp?) out tword palm springs... there is lytle creek and mt. baldy areas, the 15 fwy has som stuff out 'round lake elsinore, on the east side there are some hills.... but the fires prolly put the hurt on alot of these areas... but really, the high desert has lots of wheeling, riverside not so much... if you want to come up and wheel I'm sure we can find a trail to run with you!:gun: my rifle is not illegal, it's just undocumented... :gun:
