Roger, can you reach the Johnstone Peak Repeater from your place? Its 146.820 registered W6FNO. Its also listed as Onyx Peak.

In 2 weekends I'll be climbing San Jacinto out of Palm Springs. I'd like to try to contact you from up there.

Mt Rodman 2m might be your best bet. Might not work at the bottom of San Jacinto but should work above 5,000 ft. 147.885 PL 151.4

Edit: I just googled the tram paking lot and Mt Rodman. You might be able to access Rodman even from that level. I don't know what route you are hiking up the mountain though.

I have been able to receive Keller Peak from I-10 in the vicinity of the Morongo Casino, which is in the pass at the base of Mt. San Jacinto, so I would think that you should be able to receive it from the Palm Springs tram area of the mountain.

You are correct, but I'm unable to get a good enough signal at the house to talk on Keller. So i suggested Rodman to Steve. That I can access with a HH even!

I'll program Rodman and Keller. This climb is a pre-climb to doing Shasta next month. Want to carry communications in case of problems (can happen REAL quick on Shasta).
