  • Onyx Peak Repeater?

A main repeater covering just about all of southern California is the Onyx Peak repeater. 146.82 (no PL). It's linked to a repeater on Jonhstone Peak in the LA area.

I've been doing some online research regarding it because I have not been able to access it. It seems that it is off the air, but I can't seem to find out why and if it is only temporary or permanent.

Does anyone have any information on this repeater? It would be perfect for Johnson Valley for the up comoing KOH event.

I'm not sure. Maybe a year? I just don't know.

It's linked to Johnstone Peak. Can you try to access johnstone Peak from where you live? I wonder if it's down also.

The only repeater I could find on Johnstone Peak is
            W6FNO 146.820 - no P/L

If this is the one your refering to to then yes, :shout:it's still working......

I will be climbing San Jacinto on March 12-14th. Summit on the 13th. I'd like to attempt contact with the repeater from camp on the eve of the 12th, probably about 6pm. I'll attempt again on the 13th from the summit (time unknown, because we'll be practicing with crampons/axes)

If you have your radio's on...listen for me KG6DFH!

                Steve,

Which repeater are you going to be using? Or simplex frequency?
