  • You guys still using the CB?

Just wondering. Ch4 used to be the 4x4 channel but I have not heard any noise on it in a long time.

Yeah when ever I go out, I generally hang on channel 4.

I use the CB but only when I'm on the trail or in a caravan. But my 2m HAM is always on. I wonder if you apple valley folks can reach the Catalina repeater? There is almost alwayse traffic there. I have talked to some jeepers but no one from MJR.

Chris - I use Ch 4 when Jeeping with a group. I don't have it on otherwise. I generally have my 2m Ham radio on.

Scott I don't want to hijack this thread so I'll PM you regarding the CI Repeater.

            John,

Try the Keller peak repeater. You might get it in the OC. I'll be monitoring the Table mtn Repeater Saturnday morning.

What frequency is this repeater your talking about? I have several scanners that I used to listen to the local Fuzz with but they must have gone digital because the scanners are all quiet now.

I've cleaned up the grounds on my CB antenna mount and it seems to be working ok. If I can find my SWR meter I'm going to check that too.

I used to run a 102" whip and a 200w linier. Now I'm just running a stock radio with a 3ft antenna so maybe I'm not used to being in the mud?

I return to work on Monday 01/04.

My commute times when I can hit the Keller Pk repeater are:

                        6:30 - 7:00 AM
                        5:00 - 5:30 PM

I'll be sure to monitor during those times.

I goofed with my SWR today. I got it pretty good but since a Jeep is a terrible place to mount a CB antenna it's not perfect.

1.3 on ch-1,1.6 on ch-20 and 1.8 on ch-40. Best I could get it. Should be fine since I'm usually only using ch 4 or 19.
