Id always wanted to visit the eastern Sierras in the fall. Had been there many times in spring and summer, but Fall never fit my families schedule (amazing how retirement now opens up opportunities to do things). Anyway, I got a chance to visit Mammoth in early Oct with the Deep Creek Fly Fishers club. We fished streams and lakes for 5 days, north and south of Mammoth.
We had great weather and scenery for the first few days (but so/so fishing), then capped it off with fantastic fishing at Lake Crowley on the last day. Weather was good (wind never got bad, even on Crowley). A few pics:

Last day, on Lake Crowley. Fantastic fishing (understatement). Two of us caught 43 fish, all on midges, all released. Smallest was 13, most 14 16, with a couple 17 18.
Fat Rainbow (~18):
Light colored Brown:
Gil with a pretty Brown:
6 wt rod with a good bend:
Colorful Rainbow:
Nice Cutthroat:
Gil caught the largest fish of the day a 21 Rainbow:
I'll be back there in the spring!
