Canon 7D

Anyone getting the new 7D or thinking about it? I'm thinking about selling the 40D to get it but not sure yet. I'd have to get a new battery grip as well.

This is a big-boy camera. In all honesty with my experience using the 50D for about a year now, I'd spring the extra money for the 5D mkII, or if money is an issue for the camera body (which it likely is in this economy) the 5D mkI is still a fine camera body as well.

A huge part of the decision making in this arena is the lenses you already have.

Do you already have a fair chunk of change invested in the higher end L lenses, and just want to raise the bar with the camera body, or is this an all new thing?

Quality lenses are key with the higher end camera bodies.

In fact I think I will sell my 10D, 20D, 40D and maybe even the 1d Mark II and buy the 7D. That sounds like a plan!

I love the 10-22mm. I have never heard a negative review of it. I posted a thread here on MJR about how great a lens this is.

I recently saw one on Craigslist locally for quite a bit less.
That is a fair price for new, but from which vendor is that price? Sounds like one of the bait and switch vendors.

Check with B&H, Adorama, One Call, Ritz.......
There are many companies out there that will leave you in the lurch and very pissed off.

That's about what I paid a few years ago, I think? I recall hearing that the lens price went up in the past year or so though, but I am really not very current on that info. I get most of my gear from Samy's Camera, and I usually am trading in a lens before I buy a new one, so I never pay full retail, thus the fuzzy memory.

Thanks guys. That price was from Ritz. BTW, I was at a KITZ camera store in WA over the holidays. You probably know that Ritz closed most if not all of thier stores locally, but the owner of the KITZ store says Ritz will be opening new stores under local ownership here soon. Not sure what the name will be. A possible opportunity to go into business???
