The photos at this website were taking using tunneling scanning electron microscopy. The device uses one of our vacuum pumps to remove all the air from the chamber. Also, the wafer decks seen in the photos are made using our vacuum technology. Pretty freaking cool. And yes, this technology can be used to make the little tracking devices big brother wants to put in all our bodies. But looking at it from purely a technological view, this stuff is pretty amazing.
