  • What Cameras are you using!?

Just thought I'd make a thread for folks to show of not the pictures but the toys that took them.

I've got an OLD 35mm Pentax SLR Program Plus.

Great little camera. Been Shooting all black and white lately because of my photography class at school (I WANNA SHOOT COLOR!!), but it's easier to develop black and white in a dark room. Now to learn how to print positives...

That's the thread that inspired me to make this one. Read through it, but I'm lazy and wanted somebody else to do the work for me instead of me having to dig to find camera useage. :homer:

I'm using a Canon Power Shot SD600 for pns and just received my new D-SLR:smile:, which is the Olympus E-510. Canons pns cameras are very good cameras IMO. Good picture quality and lots of features. All the pics I posted in my thread mentioned by Nick where taken with a pns. Either my Canon or my Kodak Easy Share I had previously, which I have to say, is another great choice for a pns.

I've heard great things about the Canon EOS and Power shot
I'd love a D-SLR but I can't afford one as of yet. I will have one eventually though!

With an SLR, the base isn't what gets you, it's when you start buying 5 different lenses at $200-600 a piece... that's one of the major reasons I haven't purchased an SLR.

How is the video on those newer Canon Powershots? I have a Powershot S410 and I'm ready for an upgrade. It takes AWESOME photos but just mediocre video. I'd love it if I could get a higher resolution. I can get much better video on my DV camcorder, but the DV tapes and recording parts don't deal well with the constant bumps and vibration of off-roading. I get pixelation on the DV camcorder and poor resolution on the S410. I just can't win with the stuff I got.

The video on the Canon Powershot SX100 IS is pretty good. If the quality setting is set to normal you can shoot about 5-7 minutes of clear, good looking video, depending on the card size. If you want HQ video, get a BIG card (2GB or better).

I use the Canon EOS Rebel XT. I have four lenses; Canon Ef 50 F/1.4 for normal shots (trail stuff, group shots) Quantary 18-200 mm DC 3.5-6.3 Zoom/Macro ( I love this lens for the macro shots, very versitile) an older 35-50 lens that I use in the dirt, and the one that set me back two months salary, Canon ef 300mm f/4l IS. This is a professional lens that I haven't even begun to myself around. I don't even know why I bought it, but I'll figure it out someday.

I also use a Gateway DTC 50 pns, and a Canon Power shot.

                      Love 'em all.

A setting for HQ video? SWEET! SD cards are cheap and plentiful. Oh, I guess I should probably check out my S410 to make sure I don't have this capability already. I never even thought to look for such a thing. I'm really digging the Canons though.

I'm NOT a Sony guy at all, but I have to say that my DSC-H9 is amazing. My wife and I did a road trip to Tombstone, Bisbee and all around Southern Arizona and came back with some amazing shots.

On the Canon Powershot, in VIDEO mode, turn the track wheel up or down to choose either COMPACT (about 100 min.) or NORMAL (about 8 min) with a 1GB card.
