  • Need opinions on lift

OK I am finally going to lift my jeep after several trips to big bear and draggin' bits on the rocks with my currently stock suspension.

    My situation is...

2004 sprt with rear 44/lmtd slip dif stock/Air cond.

It is my daily driver and will be for some time to come.

In the last year I went to Big Bear 3 times on intermediate trails and am not afraid to go for it but am not going to comprimise my rigs ability to get me to work every day.

I want some lift but do not want driveline problems associated with other types of lift and

With that in mind here is the plan, Need feedback....

-2" coil spacer kit from Skyjacker (with hydro shocks)
    http://www.quadratec.com/cgi-bin/sgi...05113011314915

15x8 wheels from cragar (4.0 backspacing)

    32x11.50R15 Goodyear MT/R's

    Some questions I still have...

    1. will tire fit? (quadratec says yes)

    2. is this a good lift for daily driving with occasional wheelin'? (again quadratec says yes, hydro shock supposedly softer for comfort)

    3. is the MT/R good for on and off road? (JP mag has good review)

    4. will 32's fit on the stock spare braket?

    5. will this type of lift cause any driveline problems?

Love to hear what you all have to say....bring it on

32 x 11.50 should fit on the stock rims. Any problems you might have with wheel rub can be fixed by adjusting the steering stops on the knuckles.

Go with the RE budget boost http://www.quadratec.com/cgi-bin/sgi...05113011314915 its cheaper and probably a lot cheaper if you go throught some one other than Quadratec.

32 will fit on the spare bracket, I think. If not you can get an extension for around $50.

You may or may not have drive line issues. No one can tell you for sure but chances are you should be okay.

Is it a good lift? I'd say no. Is the RE BB lift a good lift? Again I say no. Why because as soon as you put on 32s you will want 33s. For 33s you should get a real lift and yes an SYE w/ Driveshaft. Get a RE 3.5 SF lift with adjustable control arms. Do it for real and do it once. After this if you decide you want more you can just put in taller coils and shocks.

For of all I see you are/were a Ranger, I thank you for your service.

I agree that a budget boost is recommended. Put some armor y learn to wheel the thing before spending the big bucks on lift, tire, locker, etc.

Have heard this before. I am trying to walk a fine line here on budget and drivability VS. wheelin'.

That said I agree with you but think I will not have that prob as long as my expectations are realistic and I can keep my ego in check (two things that are iffy at best but oh well WTF).

        Thanks~Steve

            Get 3.75 backspacing
Get 33's, 32's are a waste of time
Get a 1 inch Body lift to fit the 33's
            33's will fit
I dont know anything about the lift
            MT/R's are an awesome tire
33's will fit on the stock carrier
there are no promise that any type of lift will not cause vibes.

If I can offer a small piece of advice, its to try and spend the money once. Thats hard to do, I know, but it will be worth it. Think about where you want to be with your Jeep and build accordingly. Even if it means using used parts. I have pieced together a 4 inch lift for about $500.

            Good Luck

I really like the idea of keeping as much stock as possible for now yet still gaining some clearance withthe tires but..

I really like the look of the all black steel Cragar with 4.0 back spacing. would the 33's still work?

what rub about at full flex?

The black steelies are cool, except they are heavy and easily bent. The 4 inch BS should be ok. If you get rubbing you can always add to the bumpstops.

OK. what do you want to hear?

We have a little over 1300 members. If you would like overwhelming response to your remedial questions then you may want to check out some of the larger boards.

For the record, you are the second person to complain about the lack of response.

I think your questions were answered, were they not?

it's kind of useless for me and the rest of the board to post that the comments above are correct ... like Chris said, what else do you need to know?

I agree with the above comments. Do it right the first time, rather than having to do it right the second time. I kept my jeep stock for almost 2 years before it got anything more than a skid plate. It took me that long to save the money for the lift I wanted (4.5" RE superflex w/3.5" springs). I had to watch the sales, and picked up some used tires for about 1/2 the price of new (which are still on the jeep....but Brian would cry if he saw them). It was the only way I could get done what I wanted on the budget I had.

Price is soon forgotton, quality is not.

Plan to, but what comes first the chicken or the egg?!

Trying to observe before opening my pie hole around a very knowledgable group of people and therfore sticking my size 11 in it (which I seem to have already done).

I am really a mild mannered guy just looking to get some info and learn.

like the way the site is set up and people seem nice enough.....

I am new to SoCal and like that there seems to be a large socal group in this forum....

So if I stepped out of line I DID NOT MEAN TO!!!

Thanks for the info that I have received already. I look forward to being a productive member when my shedule allows.
