  • Rancho 9000 w/ disconnects

I have rancho 9000's on my wrangler. When off road is it best to have them on 1 or 5. Also if I disconnect my disconnects should I have some type of strap to limit the amount of wheel travel there is?

I found that 5 was best: maximum damping, this helps stop the suspension from bottoming out. Then the rocks broke the little adjusters off, now 5 is perfect for...everything

Some folks install axle check straps. I don't think they are necessary for rock crawling because the speed is so slow. If the suspension does top out its not going to have much momentum. However, if you are desert racing and you get airborne the forces are going to be much greater.

What you want to avoid is the shocks bottoming out, this can damage the shock and the mounts.

Have fun on the trail :yay:
