  • YJ D30 u-bolt flip

Anybody know if on a YJ D30 u-bolt flip, if you just use 2 1/2" u-bolts, or do you have to run something goofy to offset the huge castings and micro size tubes?

I used the Dynatrac U-Bolt Flip Kit on my 88YJ (Dynatrac.com). It was straight forward and added some ground clearance. Real clean and nice. As for the size, the u-bolt is squared off to fit flush underneith and the bolts can be trimed on the top side to fit flush and clean. Nice addition.

How about the width of the bolts, are they all 2 1/2", or are some wider to fit the castings?

Use 2.5" just wide enough to clear the spings. When you make the new clamping plates for the u-bolts is where you have to be creative.
So far I have only flipped my rear u-bolts. So don't have any examples to show on a d30, but it is a project i will be tackling sometime soon.

          Here is your picture.

I heard there is a "Dodge" trick. You use Dodge Ram plates. Maybe do a Google on it. Cost is $20.
