  • Hmm... What one?

I have decided to save my paychecks for a 4 inch suspension lift. I have decided on the Rough Country brand, but I'm not sure if I should get the regular 4 inch lift ($549.99) or the x-series ($899.99). Tell me what one I should get or give me some other options around the same price. These two lifts can be found on the following webpage. http://www.truckaddons.com/Catalog/s...ntry-jeep2.htm

It would be stupid for me to give you advice on how to spend your money on a lift without knowing your wheeling habits, ability or style. What advice I can give you is to do is to save a few more coin, neither of those lifts deal with issues you are going have to do, SYE kit for example and a new driveshaft. I would also recommend that you get someone close to you that has installed a lift to help. There are issues that will arise and you may need some experience to fix. On line advice may help. but nothing like hands on when doing the do.

Definitely need a bit more info on what you are trying to accomplish. If the Jeep is your daily driver and you don't do much wheelin' and keep to easy trails, something like this might work okay . . . do some checking as Rough Country up until recently had a pretty bad rep for a real rough ride . . . they seem to have made some changes and came out with a new kit with upgraded arms and things, but you might want to double check on the specific kit you are looking at. If you plan to wheel a lot on some of the tougher trails, most are going to tell you to steer clear of things like a transfer case drop but that means you'll need a new drive shaft, SYE kit, UCAs (depending on which kit), new Track bar bracket, etc. I went down this path when I bought a Full Traction kit . . . ended up needing everything mentioned (minus the SYE) above plus an adjustable rear trackbar, and due to the crappy arms included in the kit, ended up replacing them too within six months. If I had to do it over, I'd probably look at one of the upper end Currie kits or peice the parts together from a few different companies.
That which does not kill me postpones the inevitable.

you might save some dough by going thru 4x4groupbuy or some other vendors, those prices are ok, I would stay away from rough country and go with Rubicon express because the quality is night and day. I know the price difference is huge, but Rubicon Express makes damn good stuff. You only want to make this type of investment in your jeep once, so do it right the first time.

x2 on what Kodiak said, there are vendors on other sites that will make you a killing on Rubicon Express products, probably get close to those prices with shocks. If you go Rubicon get the monutube shocks. Never had rough country so I cannot comment, there is a guy on here right now (or at least was) getting good prices on rough country if you go that route. Follow this post " http://www.myjeeprocks.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=13435 "

2 kits that I recommend and very slight possibility you may not need a SYE right off. Also, these kits will allow 33's and 35's with a 1 inch body lift.

            Hi Chris
For along time I was searching and searching for a lift for my Tj..you might want to check out the Rock krawler lift, it's a little more expensive then the RC kit but it has a pretty good reputation.
This is the kit i will be purchasing next month.
Good luck with your search..and be careful.
the guy's and gals on this forum (MJR) are great people, just ask and they all will be more happy to give you some good advice.
