i had a coil unseat itself and was wanting to know if you guys have any tips for keeping the coils in place. was thinking of bolting some washers over the base of the coil on the perch. what do ya think?

Not sure about JKs . . . But I believe that TJs have two small holes where a strap can be placed around the coil to keep it in place . . . I've heard that Jeep used to put them on but don't anymore.

If you're worried about the spring coming out, get some limiting straps. Other wise, if you flex it hard all the time, that's gonna be a common occurance, so get used to it. You can bolt some washers like you said, but they probably won't hold. You need something more secure that actually grabs the spring. But limiting straps are the safest way to go.

Aren't the coils on TJs and JKs supposed to unseat? They're bolted to the bottom mount and ride along the bumpstop up top, right? That may have just been on a specific lift for all I know.

I think they used to bolt the coil on TJs at the bottom, but most that I've seen just have the holes and do not have the strap to hold the bottom of the coil . . . just another way for Jeep to save a dime.

Just make 2 straps out of some flat stock and bolt them to the lower control arm works like a charm
some flatstock about 3/4" wide and about 3/16 in thickness is strong enough to keep the springs in place

If you're talking about the front springs, get the OEM retaining clip that mounts on the bottom.

If you're talking rear springs, get this http://www.currieenterprises.com/ces...t.aspx?id=1169

                  1 retainer???

Do these things have a tendency to vibrate loose? Is everybody losing theirs?

I know the 06's didn't have them . . . the holes are there but that's it. Anybody know if the ones in front work and how much they are. Can't be more than a few bucks and I'd assume that the front would be the ones to pop out more often . . . wouldn't the rear swaybar limit things enough to keep the springs in place:dunno:

The 97 TJs have them, and when I put the lift on I didn't install one, and this happened:

Needless to say, I have since re-installed it, and haven't had a problem since.

The rear ones don't have any.

all you guys need shorter shocks. Limit straps would be better, but shorter shocks at a minimum. I know the big flex looks cool, but its not really doing much.

I've never seen one on any Jeep (factory that is). I wish I knew how you guys get your springs to pop out like that. Blows my mind. Are you flexing THAT much? Mine make all kinds of noise flopping around when I flex, but I've yet to have one pop out. wierd man...

I'll have to get a picture of the ones I made for the bottom fronts on mine. They work well, but I just put them on when I installed the new Fox shox I bought from Erik. No prbs so far, and I've flexed REAL hard on them.
