what are the differences between 97-99/ 00-01. is one better than the other if so why?

I prefer the 97-99... they have a HP D30 in the front and easy to find a crysler 8.25 in the rear. 00-01 XJs have a LP front D30 like the TJs.

Just trying to get to Cali!
