  • YJ Tub on CJ7 frame

So I found a YJ tub in good enough shape for $400. How do I go about putting this on a '84 CJ frame? I heard you just have to modify the mounting brackets, but is it really that simple? What are the steps in doing so?

There are tons of write ups on the web. I made the back body mounts on the frame wider. 1/2 or so each side. The mount infront of the read tires I drilled and threaded 1/2 plate scraps and put it in the body channel that has holes that line up with the existing frame mounts. Nuts and washers would work. You have to cut out the defroster duct holes in the new body.
The tailgate will need new holes drilled if you keep the CJ gate. I cut the plates out of the old body that had the crew treads in them opened the holes in the bottom on the yj tub and fished the plates into place after the hole were drilled. The roll bar holes needed a little adjusting on the front mounts.
I think everything else lined up.
